The Ethical Slut

Warning - this post has to do with life and absolutely NOTHING to do with sex and/or swinging. Run away now if you can't handle my reality.




First day at the new job yesterday. I got through it okay, the PRN (which means "as needed") person who worked with me yesterday was very nice. Some of the PRN folks are a little bitter that I am now there full time. That screws up their plans. See it's nice to work PRN if you have someplace else that you get benefits, and if you have someone in your home that brings in a regular paycheck. PRN rates are higher, usually by about $15-$20/hr than regular rates. So when you get a gig like my facility - where there has been 6 therapists on a regular schedule - you get some animosity when that is threatened.

I'm digging in my heels, getting to know the place, and training on the computer. Once I'm comfortable, then some changes are going to happen. But first, I need to be confident in my ability to get everyone (or most everyone) seen in the limited day I have 3/5 days a week due to the bus schedule. I'm only there 6.5 hours. I've got plans for longer days the weeknight my ex has the kids, and then I can start earlier the following morning. The rest of the week I am with the kids on/off the bus.

My ex is pressuring me to "give" him the kids more. He used to have them during the week, but would complain or as me to take them because he had something going on, or they would stay up late and be miserable for me the next day. And forget backpacks and homework, he was useless. Now he has a new wife (and a newborn) - which translates into someone to do everything for him - he thinks he wants them 2 nights during the week. I have some concerns about that for several reasons and only part of it is that he works 3rd shift. Which means that his wife and newborn and both my kids have to get up in the morning and she has to drive them down the highway about 20 min give/take to school in the morning. This is a woman I call "Queenie" for good reason. I'm already worried enough about her having to drag herself out of bed, showered, get the baby ready, then make sure mine are ready and fed with teeth and hair brushed ONE day (Fridays). He says he wants to spend more time with them, when actually he'll end up taking my girl to dance class, and then they need to come home and basically get ready for bed. I worry that again they won't get to bed ontime. Or that he waits and has them do homework after dance class when it's supposed to be relax/bed time!


So I told him we needed to wait. He was pressuring me on this last night during my girls first tap class. I told him we needed to wait and see how things went with them having the kids every Thurs with queenie coming to get them from the bus, and then the whole morning routine. This week is easy, next week he goes back to work and HER reality will set in. I'm done babbling now. The Usual Suspect is cumming over Friday night. I might have some sex talk after that!
